What cookies are
Cookies are small text files set on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, and software development kits (SDKs) in mobile apps. Together we refer to them as “cookies” in this notice.
This notice explains the cookies Great Outdoor Hubs uses on greatoutdoorhubs.com and in our apps, why we use them, and how you can manage them. For broader information about how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
How we categorize cookies
Strictly necessary
These are required for the Service to work. They keep you signed in, remember your language preference, store your consent choices, and protect the site from abuse. They cannot be turned off in our consent banner. They do not store information that identifies you for marketing.
- Session and authentication cookies set by Supabase.
- Consent-state storage (so we remember your choices).
- CSRF-protection and load-balancer cookies set by our hosting provider.
Functional
These remember choices that improve your experience (language, units of measurement, recently viewed listings). They are off until you accept non-essential cookies.
Analytics
We keep our own count of which pages people visit, so we can see what is useful and what is broken. This runs by default, and you can switch it off at any time. See “Your choices” below.
We run it by default because it is deliberately built not to be invasive:
- It sets no cookies. A random session identifier is held in your browser’s local storage and expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. It is not an account, not a profile, and cannot be read by any other website.
- We do not store your IP address or your browser’s user-agent string. We record only a coarse device type (desktop, mobile, or tablet) and a country.
- It is first-party and stays with us. The data is not sent to Google Analytics or any third-party advertising network, and it is never sold or shared. We do not track you across other websites.
What we record is the page you viewed, how long you were on it, the address of the page that linked you to us (if any), and any campaign tag in the link you followed.
Marketing
These are used only to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns we explicitly run from this site (for example, attributing a signup to a campaign click). We do not allow third-party ad networks to track you across unrelated sites from here. Off until you accept non-essential cookies.
Third-party cookies
Some features rely on third-party services that may set their own cookies when their content loads:
- Mapbox. Interactive maps and geocoding. Policy.
- Stripe. Subscription billing and payment processing (operator accounts). Policy.
- Google Cloud (Places API & Gemini). Operator business listing enrichment via the Places API (public business data), and AI image analysis via Gemini for photo features such as in-app photo effects and species identification (processes user-submitted photos). Policy.
We do not control cookies set by third parties; their use is governed by their own privacy and cookie policies.
Your choices
You can change your preferences at any time using the “Manage cookies” link in the footer. To turn analytics off, open Customize preferences and switch Analytics off, or choose Decline, either stops the page-view count immediately, and we remember that choice.
Most browsers also let you block, delete, or alert you to cookies. Consult your browser’s help pages. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Service from working.
Mobile operating systems provide controls for advertising identifiers (Apple “Limit Ad Tracking” / iOS App Tracking Transparency, Android “Reset Advertising ID”). We honor these signals where they apply.
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where required by applicable law as an opt-out of sale/sharing of personal information.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
